On Tuesday evening the 50th anniversary of Pontiac Northern High School was celebrated with an open house. In addition to the celebration people donated used musical instruments and book bags and signed up to volunteer at the school. As I reflect over the four years that I spent at PNH 1994-1998 it saddens me that my class was not able to celebrate our 10-year reunion. There were some good times and stressful times and some people who made me laugh, got on my nerves and that continue to be lifelong friends.

Some of my most memorable moments include:

  • Listening to Coach King yell “I forgot, I forgot” whenever someone failed to bring their gym clothes
  • P.S. I was one of the students that sat out in the hall the entire class because I forgot my gym clothes
  • Watching one of the Mojet twinz beat the crap out of this boy in the hallway near Tiesha’s locker
  • When Angelo Taylor crossed over to the darkside and went to play basketball for Clarkston High
  • Waking up at 5:45 a.m. in order to catch a bus that came at 6:45 a.m.
  • Laughing in Math and English class while LaQuenta and Terrance cracked jokes on each other
  • Almost going to the prom solo but being really happy with the silver dress my mom made
  • Going to Oak-Tech for Ms. Caldwell’s desktop publishing class and eating wing dings on Thursdays
  • Participating in Upward Bound right before 10th Grade and meeting some interesting people
  • Favorite Counselor: Beatrice Wright helped me get a ton of scholarships

What are your most memorable moments from PNH??? (Post your comments)

Since we can’t reunite officially in-person at least we can reunite online…

Now this is truly the saddest thing I’ve heard about since graduating:

I feel like I missed a lot by doing the duel enrollment in high school but I do have some fond memories…

-I remember being in Mrs. Williams english class taking a test and hearing all the english teachers next door cheering beacuse the OJ Simpson virdict had just been handed down.
-The many times I had my packs of Newports taken on the way in to school….
-The chicken pox in 9th grade
-Being a Rockette and performing on the football field for homecoming.
-My first and only Homecoming dance.
-Sharing a locker w/ Kanette and Michael cause I was too lazy to walk to the other end of the school.
-All the friends that I am still close to, even after all these years.
I think it’s a shame how the school is turning into something you’d think is only in movies or on television. I hope for the sake of the city they can turn things around and show some of the good that is still inside those walls…

So glad to see you blogging again! Keep it up.

OMG! Were we in English class together? I remember being in English class when that happened too…I also remember the white kids shaking their heads in disbelief…

I forgot about the smoking…that wasn’t a good look. I think I found out one day I saw you while you were working at Boston Market…glad you got over that LOL!

I had chicken pox during spring break of our 12th grade year…how could I forget that…

I never went to homecoming…and I only danced to the very last song at our Prom…

Which reminds me of the incident during Homecoming Court when Darius Bass stole LaQuenta Lewis from Tim Pauling…That was awful but humorous…

I barely remember sharing lockers but I guess that’s because we hardly saw each other…

I don’t really remember anything from highschool. I do remember all the great people/friends i met along the way. but for whatever reason i just can’t remember anything.

here are a few things i remember:
watching the movie Selena like everyday. i had like 3 music classes in 12th grade and all we ever did was watch that movie.

i went to 2 Proms one for Northern and One for Central, and married my Prom date and had 3 kids. I guess that was a good prom night.

The rest is a blur oh well.

Thanks to facebook and myspace for reuniting me with old friends. classmates.com should consider becoming free as well then maybe more people would be able to reunite.
